Fun Ideas for Eid

Have you noticed that the Eid holiday has become monotonous? The day comes, we dress up and go for Eid Namaz, well, some of us anyway. The rest of us, either sit around, sleep through the morning or get busy preparing meals and cleaning up for family members and guests. If there’s any fun to be had we usually have to make time to hand out with our friends. Usually, that’s not on the first day of Eid. This is not to say that it’s still not fun, it is just the same thing every year. Very predictable. What do you say to change it up this year? How about we help you?

First of all keep in mind that the true celebration and that feeling of joy that comes out from one’s soul will only come if we have worked hard, within our capacity, during Ramadan. This is a reward for the hard work. Rewards are truly felt if the test has been properly completed. So, first and foremost please don’t forget that rules have not changed. Allah is still the all-Mighty. We still have to abide by HIS commands. And we still have to stay within certain guidelines.

Also, know that Allah has given us this day of celebration and HE wants us to have fun so there is no harm in having fun. That is what Eid days are about. Here we go, let us know in the comments which you might try this time.

Karaoke Night with Family:

Eid-ul-Fitr is a time for families to come together and share moments of happiness. Organizing a karaoke night or afternoon can be a fantastic way to engage all family members, including adults. Singing beloved Eid songs and popular tunes can uplift spirits and create a joyful atmosphere. You can even encourage everyone to showcase their singing talents by arranging a friendly competition to add to the excitement.

Create a New Game:

Designing a new game exclusively for Eid-ul-Fitr can spark enthusiasm and bring out the creative side of the family. Brainstorm ideas and involve family members in the game’s development process. It could be a trivia game based on Islamic history, a treasure hunt with clues related to the festival, or a fun relay race involving traditional activities. This unique game will not only entertain but also provide an opportunity to learn more about the significance of this Eid.

Kids Cooking and Serving:

Engage children in the spirit of giving and responsibility by involving them in the kitchen. Assign age-appropriate tasks to the kids, such as preparing simple snacks or desserts, and let them pridefully serve the adults and neighbors. Islam puts a lot of stress on feeding neighbors. He is not a believer who eats his fill whilst his neighbor beside him goes hungry [Sahih Bukhari].

Not only will it give rewards to children but it will also instill a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence in them. Moreover, it will also bring everyone closer together as they share delicious homemade treats.

Unique Picnic Experience:

A picnic in the park is a classic way to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, but you can make it even more special by adding a unique twist. Research local parks or outdoor venues nearby. You can organize a themed picnic, with family, relatives, or friends where everyone dresses up in a certain attire. For example, you can ask that everyone dress up as characters from a drama. You can take some cheap decorations or items from your homes to make the park benches and surrounding seating and grass look similar to the set.  You can ask people to dress in the mood they have been feeling the whole month of Ramadan. Let everyone’s creativity flow. Plan fun games and activities that are more fun outdoors.

Eid is a time of joy, togetherness, and celebration. By incorporating these fun activities into your festivities, you can ensure that the celebrations are filled with laughter and create lasting memories for all family members. These engaging activities cater to people of all ages and bring everyone closer to Allah strengthening the bonds of love and unity during this special occasion.
